Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

A truth I was afraid to accept was that not everyone thinks or acts as maturely as I do. I used to believe that people my age would always understand things the way I did, but I learned that isn't true. in the beginning it was frustrating to realize, but accepting it has helped me be more patient with other people.

As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

As I grow older, I think I’ll often have to stand up and debate about   climate change and protecting the environment . Many people still underestimate how urgent the problem is or think individual actions don’t matter. I believe it’s important to speak up about reducing waste, saving energy, and supporting cleaner energy sources. I know I’ll face challenges but I want to be ready to explain why small changes and big policies both matter for our future.

Imagine you are learning about Hispanic/Latino heritage for the very first time. What would you be curious to know about the traditions, foods, music, or celebrations?

I would be curious to know about different cultures because almost all the latin and hispanic cultures are different. Also why food is so spicy and the meaning in behind their steps to prepare their dishes. I would also want to learn about the cultural background in celebrations. Hispanic and latin culture are so diverse and different.

Which learning method do you enjoy the most? Class discussions, worksheet work, or hands-on actvities. Select one and tell why.

My favorite learning method is class discussions because it's nice to hear other point of views and perspectives. Its nice to hear other ideas that you didn't quite think of or thought about. I think it helps everybody in a way to help consider other ideas to contributions to the conversations. It helps me learn best to take other ideas into perspective and reflect on them.

Which aspect of creating a poem do you enjoy the most? Tell what it is and explain why.

The aspect of creating poetry I enjoy the most is relating things in reality to other things in a way to make it sound less serious or more entertaining. Using different literary devices to make reading poetry more fun and interesting to read. Poetry has different variations and it all depends on how you execute it, if you want it serious and impactful or playful and fun to read.

If you were to compose a poem about one aspect of your life, which topic would it fall into and what would your overall life's message be?

If I were to compose a poem about one aspect of my life i would make it about peace, and how its important for everyone to have. That you can still find a peace and calm even in the hardest times. The main message would be that peace is important for balance and happiness. I chose peace because its something i try to prioritize. Thinking  about it would remind me to stay calm and not let small problems overwhelm me.

You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Since I've been taking this course I've realized how different forms of literature make themselves different. Taking this course feels like a way of expanding my touch on literature. This class has been good and i hope for more great things.
