After watching the short film and also reading the poem they connect by being confident in your identity and who you are. In the short film the people are divided into different groups and stereotypes when they are really all similar deep down. The message of the poem is to not be disunified but be confident in your identity. In Langstons's poem he expresses how he is confident in his identity as an African American.
